Buy Your Home Off-Season

Traditionally, "peak season" for home buying has always been spring and summer: May, June, July, and August. Though the heaviest home-selling months are over, you can still look for your next home! In fact, the "off-season" is a great time to be a buyer. Here are a few reasons why buying off-season could work for you:

Less competition. There’s a lot of competition out there in the real estate market. It can sometimes be difficult for buyers to get their offers accepted. While there are still active buyers off-season, you will certainly face less competition when placing an offer in on a home.

Not just left-overs. There is a common misconception that all homes on the market off-season are the leftovers that couldn’t be sold. The truth is many beautiful homes go on the market off-season because the timing worked best for the sellers. This could be for different reasons: a new job, relocating out of state, or a new home construction is completed.

It can save you money. If you’re interested in adding a few final touches to your home, waiting until fall to buy could be beneficial. You end up snagging an end-of-season discount on everything from air conditioning units to appliances and furnishings.

Fall exposes exteriors. It can be easy to overlook flaws or issues with a home’s exterior because of well-executed seasonal landscaping. But once fall comes around, flowers are no longer in bloom and you can get a better look at landscaping beds and the home’s foundation.
